PUBLIC WORKS CONTRACTS – COMMON PITFALLS AND SOLUTIONS

Watch my YouTube presentation where I discuss the common pitfalls that can occur when using Public Works Contracts and how best to avoid them

The Office of Government Procurement introduced its suite of Public Works Contracts in 2008 to standardise the procurement and administration of government construction contracts in Ireland. Although one of the objectives of the Public Works Contracts was to simplify the procurement and administration of construction projects, many difficulties still exist today regarding how these contracts should be applied.

To help you navigate these challenges, I invite you to watch my YouTube presentation given recently to Engineers Ireland, where I discuss the common pitfalls that can occur when using Public Works Contracts and how best to avoid them.

Items discussed include:

  • Scope of the parties Agreement
  • The dangers with post-tender clarifications
  • Common pitfalls when populating the Tender and Schedule
  • The importance of getting the Works Requirements right and what to include/not include
  • When best to use the Enabling Works option
  • Common problems with the Pricing Document
  • Correct use of the Pricing Document Method of Measurement
  • How to correctly apply the TII Method of Measurement

I hope you enjoy it and please feel free to share. Should you wish to contact me, I can be reached at peter@conlex.ie or 00353 867816358
